Greek Chickpea Chicken Soup

2 cans garbanzo beans/chickpeas
1 large onion
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon oregano
pinch of cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2-3 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups cooked shredded chicken
1 cup spinach
3 tablespoons chicken soup base
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 cup chopped parsley
2 large carrots, diced
4 cups water
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger (or 1 teaspoon dried ginger)
