Healthy Homemade Granola!
Homemade Granola
Store-bought granola can be pricey and often contains added sugars and preservatives that you might not even notice. Try this homemade granola recipe (we use it in the cafe!) for a healthier, more delicious alternative. You’ll have complete clarity about the ingredients, and we think it’s even more satisfying!
Ingredients:
4 cups old fashioned oats
1 ½ cups raw nuts and/or seeds of your choice
1 teaspoon fine grain sea salt (or ¾ teaspoon of table salt)
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ cup melted coconut oil or olive oil
½ cup maple syrup or honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
⅔ cup dried fruit (chop up if using larger dried fruits)
OPTIONAL MIX-INS: ½ cup of chocolate chips and/or coconut flakes
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine oats, nuts/seeds, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
Mix oil, syrup/honey, and vanilla into the oat mixture. Once everything is lightly coated, pour and spread the mixture into an even layer onto the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 21-24 minutes, until lightly golden. Halfway through, mix the granola. Take out of the oven and let it cool undisturbed for 45 minutes.
Add in fruit, and if desired, chocolate chips and/or coconut flakes.
Break the granola into pieces and store in an airtight container. This recipe is good for 1-2 weeks in an airtight container at room temperature, or up to 3 months in the freezer in a sealed bag.
